AD34 Temperature Sensor

The AD34 Submersible Temperature Probe may be used for measurement of water or air temperature. An easy-to-use sensor with linear output, the AD34 provides a cost-effective solution in applications that do not require high-precision. It has an input range of –50°C to +125°C and full-scale linearity error of +/- 1.5°C. The output range is 0-2.5V. The AD34 includes 2 metres of cable but can be ordered with additional length up to 35m.

Installation

  1. Connect the red wire of the AD34 to a 5VDC supply. On PDAS loggers this terminal is labelled ‘5VDC REF’.
  2. Connect the white wire to an analog input with a range of at least 0-2.5VDC. Use channel 3 or 4 if connecting to a rev C or D PDAS logger. Select any channel if connecting to a rev E (or later) PDAS logger.
  3. Connect the black wire to the analog ground terminal.

Data Conversion

The voltage output of the sensor is converted to degrees °C using the following SCALE and OFFSET:
SCALE = 70
OFFSET = -50
