RE: SAT HDR GOES TRANSMITTERS.
A few months ago it came to our attention that the manufacturer of the SAT HDR GOES transmitter, Cobham Tracking & Locating (formerly Seimac Inc.), were no longer producing these devices. We are now advised that Cobham is unable to service the SAT HDR because its key components are largely obsolete, thus rendering the SAT HDR design itself obsolete. Cobham is now focused on other markets and has no intention of providing a replacement GOES transmitter.
Obviously, this will greatly impact our customers. We are in the process of selecting a new GOES transmitter. Once that selection is made, we will develop the communications interface and mechanical packaging required to continue to provide GOES telemetry as an option to our PDAS data logger. As there will no doubt be a need to substitute this new GOES transmitter into existing PDAS systems, we will also endeavour to develop a retrofit for those loggers that are operational but have a problematic SAT HDR.
We will announce any new developments in this regard on our homepage.
